On June 2-3, we held a 24-hour global reading of over #100000Names of Syrians who have been killed in the last three years. This oral memorial took place in New York, London, Toronto, Los Angeles, Detroit, Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, and inside Syria. It was a true exercise of solidarity with the Syrian people on a devastating day in our countrys history. This reading was to honor our dead and to promise that one day we will seek justice for our martyrs. One day Syria will be free. We extend our gratitude to everyone who participated worldwide in the readings and all of the local organizers who took the idea and made it their own. Thank you to The Syria Campaign, Molly Crabapple, and the Kafranbel artists (Raed Fares!) who created our unified banners. And much thanks to the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces offices in Istanbul and New York who provided logistical support and welcomed us into their NY office which we transformed into a #100000Names base. Special thanks to Dr. Najib Ghadban, Reem Salahi & Mariam Jalabi. We also thank the continuous support of the Syrian American Council (SAC) for this project. The #100000Names Book of the Dead was delivered by hand to over 7 members of the UN Security Council. The remaining council members will be receiving their copy next week. Kenan Rahmani, Nada Hashem & Aya Samman: you are the core team of this project. I cant do any of this without you. Reema Hibrawi, Sarab Abu Adib Al-Jijakli, Mohamed T Khairullah, Racan Alhoch, Ninwa Hanna: you were an awesome NYC team! Wassim Al-Adel: thank you for making the London reading such a success. Thank you Michael Weiss, Danny Gold & Molly Crabapple for participating in our event. Im tagging everyone I can think of here along with photos from across the world. Please forgive me if Ive forgotten anyone. The #100000Names will be held again in the near future. We will never stop counting, naming, and remembering our dead. #TheRevolutionContinues
