On QANDA on Monday, a local Brisbane pastor when questioning Kevin Rudd was given two opportunities to express what issues were deciding the Christian vote this election. On both instances the example he chose was marriage. If true, I find that sad. When refugees are being persecuted, the risks to the poor of climate change are deepening, when our national commitment to aid is waning, when the coalition are promising to cut Newstart and when single parents are struggling to get by – why pick marriage? For those of us that call ourselves Christians, I think it is worth being reminded that according to Jesus, our faith is defined by how we treat the most vulnerable.
