On Sunday, 28 September, 2014, Colonel Joseph H. Alexander passed away. Following his career as a Marine Corps officer, he became a prolific writer. Among many others, Colonel Alexander wrote four books for the History Division. This week, in honor of our colleague, we are featuring his book _U. S. Marines in the Recapture of Seoul: Battle of the Barricades_, a history of the September, 1950 recapture of Seoul, one of the five battles there over the course of the Korean War. Alexanders other books are _Closing In: Marines in the Siezure of Iwo Jima_, _Across the Reef: The Marine Assault of Tarawa_, and _The Final Campaign: Marines in the Victory on Okinawa_, all found in our World War II publicatoin section.
