On Sunday, September 15th, I will be participating in the 2nd Annual Tucson 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb. This fund raising event will be held at 5151 E Broadway. Firefighters from Tucson and surrounding areas will be climbing the stairs of the 17 story building 7 times in full firefighting gear (up to 70 pounds). The goal is to ensure that the memories of fallen firefighters live on. 9-11 FACTS: 343 firefighters died 128 never identified 700 children lost their father 480 were school age at the time 64 FDNY personnel have died since 9-11 from exposure at ground zero 100’s remain sick Over 3,000 family members receive help each year One-hundred percent of all the money raised from the Tucson 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb goes towards the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is simple: to honor fallen firefighters and assist their families and co-workers. This includes the 19 Granite Mountain Hot Shots who died on June 30th. You can visit firehero.org to learn more about the NFFF. It is my privilege to be a part of this event and I would be honored by your support. You can complete and return the attached pledge sheet or visit climb4thefallen to donate. You can also show your support by stopping by to cheer us on and have some fun. Opening ceremonies begin at 08:30 with the first firefighters hitting the stair well at 0910. There will be food, raffles, jumping castles and rock climbing walls for the kids. If you are able to make it, please try to find me to say hello. Thank you and God Bless.
