On This Day In Herstory. On November 29, 1963, no doubt still devastated by the assassination of President Kennedy a week earlier, Judy is probably uplifted to be rejoined by her Hollywood counterpart, Mickey Rooney, for the taping of a musical comedy sketch for The Judy Garland Show. The scene will be edited in with the first episode taped back in June for a December 8 airing on CBS. It has been 30 years since Judy and Mickey first shared a stage together while students at Lawlors Hollywood Professional School. After all the movies, concerts, radio programs, and public appearances, Garland and Rooney still know how to make magic together as they slip back into their backyard musical routine; singing songs that made the team so popular with audiences and one of the most successful in movie history.
