On Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at approximately 12:10 hours, the Larksville Police Department received a walk in complaint in reference to a possible scam. Officer Craig Cebrick spoke to the female complainant who stated she had received a check in the mail for the amount of $2,540 from another female named Christiana Decker from Washington State. The complainant told the officer she has never been in contact with Decker before and has no idea as to whom she may be. The complainant told Officer Cebrick that she has been in contact with another female (not Decker) via email in reference to the complainant possibly buying products from her business, Tastefully Simple. The complainant added that this female told her that she would send a cashiers check in the amount of $335 to her, in order for her to pre-pay for the products. In todays mail, the complainant received a Fed-Ex envelope containing the $2, 540 cashiers check drawn on Woodforest National Bank of Texas. She also received an email from the female stating the bank had made a mistake and wrote the cashiers check out for too high of an amount. She then requested the complainant to transfer the difference to a doctor in order to pay for some type of surgery. The complainant then called her bank who told her that they believe this is a scam and to contact her local police.
