On a day we are trying to recover from 24 hours of Montezumas - TopicsExpress

On a day we are trying to recover from 24 hours of Montezumas revenge.......the goats decide to worm their way out of the fence and jump, push one another or somehow manage to perhaps dive into an old rock tank that saw many summers as a swimming pool, til the well ran dry. Ten of those troublesome creatures got in there but only two could manage to jump out. My husband who can usually ,easily outwork two 30 year olds (at 73) is weak and in pain. He manages to throw a couple of those critters out but the others are stubborn and sullen. I go to chase the escapees from the tank and get them back into our field, put the gate up and try to help wrangle those goats OUT of the tank.Husband is worn out from chasing them. I said,Lets give them something to climb on, Maybe theyll go out that way. So we wrestle a pallet into the tank, but guess what? Now he wants me to get in the tank and wrangle those obstinate things from the backside . Theres cactus and mesquite all around so I find a safe path and finally get my overweight, sick self in behind the goats, but they will not go up the improvised ladder. Finally he gets a rope on one who looks heavily pregnant to me and she is assisted up and over and back into the pen. While hes getting some breaths, the others decide,on their own mind you, to climb out . So back we go around the lot and back to the gate I secured earlier . Like good goats though they always have to be convinced. A word to the wise, do not get sick if you have goats to care for. They will take advantage of you. (Secretly my fear was that he would get mad and shoot them all. That would be another job to do on a sick day) All that, while we are resting and drinking ice water a call comes from John Cornyns office wanting campaign contributions. Not a good day for the caller.
