On the 1880 census, 42 Americans listed their occupation as ‘magician’. Among them were ‘Hogadoo’, a 70-year-old Native American of Eureka County, Nevada; Herr Anton, born 1845 in Italy and living in St. Louis; Eugene Blitz of New York City, born in New Jersey; Maroni Oman of Blackfoot, Idaho – born 1845 in Illinois. As if 1940, 206 Americans listed their occupation as ‘magician’. Among them were Mamie Lynch of Mendocino, California; Lyman Hug of Colon, Michigan; Charles Porgie of Atlanta, Georgia; Roland Plato, a Show-Me-Stater living in Los Angeles; Prince Rahajad Addglaha, born 1886 in India, living in Choctaw Mississippi and A.F. Bull and his wife Myrtle, of Oakland California.
