On the 9th anniversary of Hurricane Ivan impacting Grand Cayman. Hurricane Ivan struck Grand Cayman on the 11/12 September 2004. The eye passed 21 miles South West of Grand Cayman with winds of 150 mph and gusts of 220 mph. The three most affected districts were George Town, Bodden Town and East End. The total economic impact to the Cayman Islands was estimated by the United Nations ECLAC team to be 3.4 billion US dollars.
