On the way to school when my brain is barely working yet, my 4th grader asked me if I knew talking about Jesus at school is not allowed anymore. I asked her why she thinks that? She told me that they were talking about a regular ark for art and she brought up Noahs Ark. A boy told her there are too many religions at school to talk about Jesus and not offend someone. If I want to learn or talk about Jesus I cant go to public school. My advice was... Teachers arent allowed to teach about Jesus as far as I know, but that just means you have to talk about him for them now because you still have freedom of speech and the right to talk & believe whatever you want. Everyone believes something. It shouldnt offend anyone that believes differently, anymore than you shouldnt be offended when you find someone who doesnt believe or lives differently than you do. God has called us to love. That will shine bright enough if you choose love & pure kindness. Follow your own heart always. Its the only person you have control over. Live a life that makes people want to believe in Jesus. Pray at lunch. Be an example. Choose right even if it frustrates others. Be different. I think the world needs more of those things. I had so much more to say but then she got out of that car & now I just miss her today. Motherhood is SO having no idea if you have the right answers but trying your very best to respond without any preparation. For real.
