On this Earth Day, I want to take a moment to recognize some of the passionate people who have helped make Project Noah a leading community for learning about our planet. There have been some huge milestones lately and I wanted to point a few of them out. First, Malcolm Wilton-Jones passed 10,000 spottings (and probably over 30k photos!!) which is an absolutely jaw dropping number and level of effort. Tina Pettersson has successfully kicked off a project in Swaziland to help document species in the Mlawula Nature Reserve and even had a fellow PN member join her in the bush (Pam Sai!). The Caterpillar Man of Curitiba (or the Tortoise Beetle Bro of Brazil) passed 4,000 spottings! What a collection! Dan Doucette celebrates over 3 years as an active PN member and just came back from an awesome adventure in Malaysia where he connected with fellow PN nature lover Chun Xing Wong for some great jungle explorations. I wish I could have joined. One day! Cindy Bingham Keiser has passed 5,000 spottings and can now also say shes been published in a scientific journal. In addition to being a nature nerd, we can now call her a science geek too :) Scott Frazier has made over 2,500 incredibly important and helpful species ID suggestions mostly from Indonesia which is another place I hope to visit some day soon! Christiane Geissler celebrates over 3 years in the community sharing wildlife encounters from Australia. Congrats! Fyn Kynd has taken lead of coordinating our Project Noah Rangers weekly spotting picks and is doing an ace job. Karen Loughrey Richard continues to rock on as our community maven and has helped push our Facebook page past 385,000 fans. Amazing! Lastly, it was our resident moth maniac Jacob Gorneaus birthday recently and he is working on earning his drivers license which Im sure will help him chase more moths and other wildlife, especially as we get ready for this years National Moth Week! There are so many other people and milestones I wish I could add and theres no way they would all fit. We have built an amazing global community of people who have poured their hearts and souls into showcasing our planets biodiversity and getting others hooked on exploring ecosystems across the globe. To this day, there still isnt a friendly and welcoming place like PN out there for people to start their journey exploring and understanding nature. Weve created a magical place in our little corner of the internet and Ive met some of the most caring and inspiring people through this project. Heres to another year of chasing organisms and building friendships! Much love to the PN community and thank you to everyone who has chipped in along the way! -Y
