On this day, like every year I reflect on how this day could have changed my life forever. A few years ago when the movie debated I learned exactly how much so. I learned that my grandfather was suppose to be on the plane that crashed, but my grandmother made him stay home for a dinner party. Seems like such a small thing but it would have had such a HUGE impact on my life. Now, if you know my grandmother you can smile because she was the boss and what she said went (even if you didnt agree, you would never go against her!) so I am sure that it was never a question for my granddad to stay home like she had asked. Oh how thankful I am for how bossy she was on that day! I got to grown up with both my grandparents and didnt have to just hear stories about this man that I didnt know or would have never gotten to meet. Thankfully I got to spend 27 years with him. 27 years of memories that I made myself, thankfully. My parents were at the dinner party and can remember when the police came and got the sheriff when the plane went down. My moms dearest friend lost her father. There are stories of loss everywhere you look from that day, but I personally have to be thankful. Thankful that I had a bossy grandmother and made my grandfather stay home so that I could spend the next 27 years with him!
