Once AGAIN, another article, more voices coming from Chicago communities talking about their Pres. Obama not helping THEM! Wait hold em up! Didnt yall scream he was the President for ALL the people and not just Chicago 6 yrs ago, 2 yrs ago! Now some folks come along. illegally mind you, and is going to benefit from OUR largess by the power of his phone and pen, now the outrage. Now I dont disagree completely with them about helping OUR youth, but that would be across the nation as far as Im concerned. It takes more than just money being tossed at programs and organizations in these communities as par for course..been there done that for the same results! They need more jobs, gang task forces, better family programs and mentorship, schools that teach, not indoctrine with govt programs, community pride and responsibility, affordable day care, and get rid of those demonCrats pocketing money and leaving communities to fester and wallow in misery! ......Bloodshed, gang intimidation, drug wars, robbery, rape, murder of children in the streets and widespread dropping out of school because of belief in certain death at a young age are the circumstances the children running to the U.S.-Mexico border are fleeing — and are the same ones children and families on Chicagos South Side face daily. In certain corners of this town — indeed, often in or very near Obamas own neighborhood — public school education is a joke, there are no jobs, there are no opportunities and there sure isnt much hope. The same can be said about areas in St. Louis, Detroit, Oakland and in many high-poverty communities populated almost exclusively by Hispanics and African-Americans. Usually when America wants something, it opens up its purse, sends the dollars and gets it, said Phillip Jackson, executive director of Chicagos Black Star Project, an organization working to improve the quality of life in black and Latino communities of Chicago and nationwide by eliminating the racial academic achievement gap. But America seems to be investing in prisons, seems to be ready to invest in more court systems and deportations, in helping the situations in Central America, and not in the things that will build the fabric of community life here the way they say they want to build the fabric of life in other nations. chicagotribune/news/opinion/commentary/ct-oped-cepeda-on-chicago-violence-0717-20140717,0,505343.story
