“One” For The Record Bag... OK; so as quickly as I launched - TopicsExpress

“One” For The Record Bag... OK; so as quickly as I launched “Wax By Dope Demand”, I took a break. However it was all in the name of research. Clubs, raves, a visual music experience, house parties and a full on music festival held at a friend’s house. Throughout all of these there was one common denominator, dOPE house music. For WBDD the house scene is in the best shape it has been in for, well forever! Fitting then that Wax By Dope Demand’s returning blog post is about hands down, no questions asked “one” of our favourite labels... One Records. Formed in 2009 by Producers, DJ’s and all round mint guys Subb-an and Adam Shelton, One Records typifies what’s good about genuine underground house music. Never following the trends within the scene, One Records instead consistently delivers against a blue print recently outlined by Shelton at their Off-Sonar showcase; “old music that sounds new and new music that sounds old”. One Record’s most recent release and the focus of this post; John Dimas’s “Rhythm Trap EP” is consistent with this ethos. The lead track “Rhythm Trap” is outrageously bass heavy, with an almost garage like undertone and a sprinkling of Acid throughout, this is set to destroy dance floors across Europe and beyond. WBDD can see it now, the courtyard of the Rainbow in Birmingham, specifically at Below, this drops, the crowd will go off for sure! Unsurprisingly to anyone that knows me personally and understands my admiration for Adam Shelton’s production skills, the stand out track of the EP is his remix of Rhythm Trap. Completely different in approach to the original, Shelton’s remix for me echoes a lot of progressive house I listened to in the late 90’s. Mellow in dynamics but still possessing that magic ingredient that makes me nod my head in appreciation and want to dance. Perfectly suited to the unlikely heat wave we’ve been experiencing in the UK. If you only make one purchase be it digital or vinyl (wax obviously being WBDD’s chosen format) then make it this. Every track will stand the test of time and I’ll predict that in 5 or 10 years time, DJ’s will still be reaching into their record bags or box’s to drop this and bring the heat to any crowd dOPE https://soundcloud/adamshelton/john-dimas-rhythm-trap-adam
