One Less Gun: Officers Arrest One and Recover Gun in Dorchester At about 10:29 PM, Friday, April 11, 2014, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of Wainwright Street and Brent Street in Dorchester. While en route, officers were informed that two black males were seen running in the direction of Centre St. The individuals were described as two black males with one wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. While searching in the area of Center St. and Clementine Park, officers observed two black males standing in the lobby of an ATM machine at Shawmut Station. One of the individuals was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, which matched the description of the suspects. Officers remained in the area to observe the individuals, who were acting as if they were withdrawing money from the machine. The individual in the red sweatshirt appeared to be standing extremely rigid and stiff. With their close proximity to the scene of the shots fired call, and the matching clothing description, officers approached the males. As officers approached the individuals, they began to frisk the individuals. While patting down the individual in the red sweatshirt, officers were alerted by a hard object in the right side of the suspect’s waistband consistent with a firearm. Upon taking possession of the firearm, the officer continued his search and located a second firearm tucked into the suspect’s waistband. The suspect was placed under arrest. Arrested was Deandre Lattin, 20, of Dorchester. Lattin is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
