One Of The Coldest Air Masses To Ever To Hit South Texas This Late In April Arrives Tomorrow Morning Animated weather graphics can be seen here: is.gd/tKfHu4 Temperatures on the northeastern plains of Colorado have been hovering in the 20s all day. This air mass will arrive in San Antonio mid morning on Monday, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms to the area through midday and north winds of 15-30 mph, with some gusts exceeding 45 mph. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the daylight hours of Monday for all of South Texas. Temps for the early morning rush will be in the low 70s, but immediately after the front passes mid morning, temps will plunge into the 50s, and stay there until the Sun returns late tomorrow afternoon to spike the temps back into the low/mid 60s. Skies will go mostly clear, and the air will be very dry by April standards overnight Monday night into Tuesday morning. Winds will remain breezy, but this air mass is so cold that despite the fact that the wind will inhibit *radiational* cooling, enough cold air is moving in from the north that much of the Hill Country should go below freezing for a few hours. This has the potential to badly damage - if not ruin - the peach crop there. The record low for San Antonio is 38° and it will get down close to that very briefly. The hills in northern Bexar County could possibly touch upon freezing very briefly. Despite wall-to-wall sunshine across South Texas on Tuesday, temps will run about 15 to 20° below average. Mostly clear skies on Wednesday morning, along with light wind and dry air, will set up for good radiational cooling, and lows about 15-20 degrees below average - but not record setting. Clouds will be on the increase during the day on Wednesday, limiting heating and keeping afternoon highs about 8-12° below average. Believe it or not, there are signs another shot of cold air (by April standards) could arrive for next weekend. Low/High Mon: 50°(midnight Monday night)/73°(midnight tonight) with temps in the 50s/60s during the day. Low/high Tues: 39°/65° Low/high Wed: 41°/70° #TXwx #SATwx
