One White Canadian mother of one said “I guess it is easier and cheaper to import young children with their parents as immigrants rather than invest in Canadian children.” That sentiment is common not just among the native born but among new immigrants as well, many of whom are having just one child due to economic constraints. One person said that if more women were given the opportunity to stay home with their children, there would be less need to rely on immigrant children and with fewer women or men in the workplace, unemployment numbers would fall. But such a strategy has not been used in Canada. Millions of dollars are instead sunk into settlement services and helping newcomers adjust to life in Canada. canindia/2013/11/immigration-levels-are-sky-high-but-where-are-the-jobs/#sthash.6oFRIujM.dpuf
