One day in our old townhome in Pensacola, circa 2004 Kila Long - TopicsExpress

One day in our old townhome in Pensacola, circa 2004 Kila Long opened the back door while cooking to let the smoke out and a real, live, ferret was standing on its hind legs at the threshold of the door looking up at us. It proceeded to walk on inside the house. Now keep in mind we had had a rodent problem that we had been battling for a while so to us, at this time, not thinking clearly, this was CLEARLY the BIGGEST RAT we had ever seen in our lives! We both screamed so loud (all my manhood left when I sat a 3 foot long rat standing up and walking)! I jumped up and grabbed the broom and tried to shoo it away but it kept walking forward like I wasnt there. Kila was ghost by this time...I mean gone! Running and screaming and halfway upstairs yelling git it!...git it!. I was trying to follow her more so than contend with this thing. I then literally ran and pushed a part of our old sectional sofa towards the back door to block it off. But the giant rat just climbed right up like it was going to sit and watch tv with us, literally smiling all the way and came on in. Eventually the rat/ferret pushed us into an entirely different section of our own home (fear will make you give up what is rightfully yours - message!). A few moments later our neighbor knocked on the door and asked us if we had seen her pet ferret because it climbed out the window and escaped. I led her to it and it was soon over. The moral of the story is that we spent 10 minutes (seemed like a 10 hour hostage standoff) running from something because we were traumatized by something else previous. Dont let the things that have affected you elsewhere or in your past cause you to make a summary judgment about EVERYTHING else you encounter that seems similar. That ferret wasnt trying to hurt us. It just wanted love but I was trying to kill it. Is there something or someone in your life right now that youve judged as a rat but it is really a potential companion or friend? Step back and refrain from hasty judgments. You may be acting too soon! Love comes in strange packages and the things that youve experienced in your past were intended to be lessons learned, not blessings burned. Have a great day and if you see any ferrets remember that sofas wont stop them...
