One my favorite movies was on TV tonight--Blow Up. From 1966. David Hemmings and Vanessa Redgrave. Great plot. Great photography. Excellent use of silence--the pauses in the dialogue--the limited use of music. Explores the fine line between what is real and what is not. Every scene is significant. Continually the poses question, What is going on? What IS she looking at? What IS that in the photograph? As the photographer blows up the photo larger and larger he cannot believe what he is seeing. Has he inadvertently photographed a murder? Best use of a mime troupe in a movie--used as a Greek chorus at the end. Completely unlike movies today. Michelangelo Antonioni at his best. I have watched this movie many times and it always holds my attention hostage. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blowup
