One of my best memories with Dad. He had gotten me onto Isaac Asimovs Foundation series that school year. I was 9 at the time, so my bro Chris was like 1, I think I went with my cousin Robert later in the year. :-) Dad was a parent chaperone as we walked as a class from Gelinas Junior High, up the road to the old Three Village Theater, (that was actually right behind our house in Setauket!) to go see 2001 A Space Odyssey in 1968. It was aMAzing! On the way back (we could have just jumped the fence behind the theater, but he had to walk the class BACK to school, so I did too) he got us all going with what each part of the film COULD have meant! (found out years later, Arthur C Clarke and Kubrick didnt mean ANYthing, they just alternated writing a chapter, filming a chapter, back and forth, til they were done! didnt stop generations of Sci-Fi fans from speculating like we did ANYways! :-) Then we walked home together and went even FURTHER into speculating! We got home and Mom said Have a good time guys? All I could say was Wow! with big wide eyes. 8-)
