One of my first jobs in the industry had me retouching images of the rooms shot for the Ikea catalog. Many, if not most, of those beautiful apartments were sets built in studios. Wed extend the floors. Move furniture. Add lighting. Decorate. Make the room look smaller or bigger. So its no surprise that much of the new images are done with CGI. This is a really neat article about the process. As a designer I can appreciate the process, but as a consumer is it disappointing to know that none of those beautiful rooms are real?
