One of the bands that were out there in the Canterbury circuit - TopicsExpress

One of the bands that were out there in the Canterbury circuit with a dosage of electronics was a side project called Quiet Sun. Quiet Sun featured Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music), Charles Hayward, Bill McCormack (Matching Mole), and Dave Jarrett and it has this homage of Soft Machine, Frank Zappa, and King Crimson. The track, Mummy Was an Asteroid, Daddy was a Non-Stick Kitchen Utensil, which sounds like a sketch from Monty Pythons Flying Circus, shows the band improvising and going into avant-territories and Phil is flowing on his guitar. Mainstream is such an overlooked yet amazing album theyve unleashed. I wished they had continued to do more.
