One of the brothers met Shaykh Taqiuddin An-Nabhani (rh)’s son - TopicsExpress

One of the brothers met Shaykh Taqiuddin An-Nabhani (rh)’s son last weekend at the #KhilafahConference2014 and asked him some questions about his father. I’ve taken two of those questions, clarified some of the English and posted a small part that I found inspiring. Q: How was Shaykh Taqis (rh) relationship with his family? Shaykh Ibrahim Ibn Taqiuddin al-Nabhani began by saying, I will answer you but I want to say something [first]. We must not be interested in personalities. Shaykh Taqi (rh) has died but his ideas are still alive. So we dont follow personalities – we follow the ideas. He, Shaykh Taqi (rh), used to spend 2 months in Jerusalem (Palestine), and in Jordan, Syria, Iraq and he use to come 15 days to see his family [in Beirut] and look-after his children and then go back. In 1956 he was driven out [of] Syria so he had no choice [but] to come to Lebanon. In spite of these security measures - because he was being followed [by secret service] and they were watching us – our relationship with him was [still] close. We use to visit him [secretly] in turns. I used to go one day and my mother and my sister [would go another day]. We were 3 brothers and a sister. Q: What influenced the development of Shaykh Taqis (rh) profound thoughts? Shaykh Taqi (rh) studied in Egypt for 4 years in 2 different universities. One in Dar-al Uloom, where he studied Arabic and [the other] in al-Azhar he studied Shariah. But Shaykh Taqi was not satisfied with the curriculum in al-Azhar so he used to go to a library called al-Halabi, which contained most of the intellectual books in the world. It was very famous. He read about Marxism there, he read about Capitalism there so I asked him once how many books have you read in your life? He said a number [that] if he were not my father I would not have believed him, he said, 16 thousand books! He reads quickly [and] he writes at fantastic speed. Shaykh Taqi (rh) discovered that ilm al-Kalaam (logic of the philosophers) was the first mistake (by the Muslims) which drove the thinking of Islam and the way of study from what it was in the first and second century (after the Prophet) [into decline]. May Allah allow us to increase our ilm of the Deen of Allah and be amongst those who revive this beautiful system. Allahuma ameen.
