To this I say : One of the reasons Texas remains successful for the last twenty - thirty years is IN SPITE of consistently enacted red-state policies. We have benefited greatly from oil for the last 100 years, Not only does oil pay school taxes and utility taxes , office rents, etc. and keeps so many people employed, . the oil and the oil companies were here long before Rick Perry was Governor of this state . Yes, the bottom does fall out of the oil business once in a while but oil makes up for the down time - like right now - with no help from Perry. It is only biased and religious fanatics and the uninformed who think Rick Perry is such a success. If, in fact, Rick Perry and his henchmen policies were not shrouded with lies and lack of transparency, more Texas citizens would know that we are about fifty-Billion dollars in debt. And that is on top of all the cutting of funds the Republicans have done in the last few years. Compare your Utilities services charges from ten years ago to what they are now, do the same with all the taxes you are now paying , and your insurance payments. Then take a good look at what a dangerous mess our justice system is in. Rick Perry in his great effort to have only Republican representation in the entire state, has spent all these years appointing Judges who are inept , hostile ,and corrupt. There are lawyers and judges in Texas that should have been disbarred twenty years ago.. No Republican in Texas can be fired, disbarred from any position they hold. We all need to vote . Nutcases like Ted Cruz got elected because only eight percent of illegible voters used their privilege to vote - out of twenty million citizens in Texas. Texas was always a respected and loved state - now most of the world thinks we are all crazy and they laugh at us.
