One way in which the whole idea of a right has been corrupted in the American psyche, is how right gets turned into an obligation. There is no better way to destroy a right than to turn it into an obligation. No Choice = No Right. There are only rights where there are choices for the individual to make. If one cannot choose death instead, then life has become an obligation. Which I personally find both cheap as hell, and an affront to the mac daddy of property right, self ownership. NO ONE can judge anothers pain. No one. If one is not choosing their life, then its a SENTENCE, not a right. This story is heartbreaking so I hate to politicize it. But there is nothing more political than whether or not a person owns themselves. Whether or not we own ourselves is the red line in the sand between liberty and oppression.
