One week until the Northboro Special Town Meeting! Please mark your calendars to attend: OCTOBER 28th 7:30 at ALGONQUIN. This is important - 100 people must be in attendance to be able to vote on two important petitions. 1. The first is the solar moratorium. The approval of the temporary moratorium will allow the Northboro planning board the time needed to write a proper by-law for the installation of industrial solar farms. This will not affect residential solar panel installations. Once the by-law is written we will be able to vote on it at the annual town meeting in April of 2014. 2. The second will prohibit Use Variances. A use variance refers to an action by the Board of Appeals to allow a use not otherwise allowed by the zoning ordinance or bylaw. For example, a request to allow a commercial use on residentially zoned property. According to a 2007 study only 1/3 of the commonwealths cities and towns allowed use variances.
