Online Consultation: CAI’s Vision for Post-Primary Education in the Coleraine Area Coleraine Academical Institution and Coleraine High School combine to form a co-educational selective grammar school to preserve the academic excellence of both schools The school will be a voluntary grammar school to enable the Board of Governors to take strategic decisions for the school at a local level The co-educational school will be located on the CAI site The number of pupils in the school in the long term should be 1250 This school will be sustainable in all the necessary ways. If a non-selective school is established on the site of Coleraine College and with Loreto College almost next door, the requirements of the Entitlement Framework can be met comfortably and practically and the development of a shared future for Coleraine pupils would be possible with the proximity of schools from different sectors. This will strengthen and widen the links to the community which are already enjoyed by the existing schools. Suitable educational pathways will be accessible to all the pupils by the schools working in collaboration. In this vision for the future, three schools effectively become two, thus ensuring that enrolment trends and financial positions are sustainable.
