Opposition CORD Leader due to visit Mombasa and Kilifi CORD leader Raila Odinga is this weekend expected to pitch camp at the coast for a series of events. On Saturday Hon Odinga is scheduled to attend the funeral of the late Mijikenda elder Pekeshe Ndeje in Rabai, Kilifi. Mzee Ndeje died last Sunday at the Coast General Hospital after a long battle with diabetes that led to the amputation of his left leg last week. Ndeje is the elder behind coronation of several national political leaders as Mijikenda elders including Hon Raila Odinga in 2007. Due to Mbeje’s controversial nature and his social position among the coastals, thousands are expected to attend the funeral from all over coastal counties and beyond. The following Sunday morning, Hon Odinga is scheduled to join worshipers for a service church in Likoni, Mombasa County, before proceeding to Kilfi Town, Kilifi County to attend the wedding of the son of Mama Grace Mboja who is a long time civic leader in Kilifi County on the Orange Democratic Movement ticket. While in the region, Hon Raila Odinga is expected to hold private consultations with CORD leaders in the coastal region led by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and Senator Omar Hassan Omar. Hon Odinga’s visit to the coast come at a time controversy is raging about government decision to annul title deeds in Lamu County and commence investigations into the allocations that happened in the period 2010-12.
