Original Sin ....It wasnt a particularly good event, but it wasnt THAT bad either, IMO. I mean its biggest crime, to me, is just that it was a lackluster predictable murder mystery and Jason Aaron just bit off more than he could chew as he often does. (And no, the retcons dont bother me because A) they didnt change anything I care about that much and some are even pretty cool, and B) Retcons happen all the time. This was just another excuse. If not this than they would have found some other way.) But yea, on paper (so to speak) the concept of Original Sin is actually a really cool and interesting one. I thought it had potential if put in the right hands. And to be fair, he did start it off rather strongly, the problem is just that after about the 4th chapter, the book begins to fall apart. But hey, that is halfway through the event, thats better than most event comics these days can say. Also, I cant be that mad at Aaron for this because if you arent REALLY good at deduction and suspense and seeding clues and writing in reverse, murder mysteries are REEEEEEAAALLY difficult to write well, ESPECIALLY when superheroes are involved! (Looking at you Identity Crisis! -_- ) So yea, ultimately, I give the book a 5 out of 10, if I had to give a concrete rating. It had ideas, it had potential, it got the characters right and had some pretty good moments, but by the end it was just underwhelming and anti-climactic, not to mention confusing. But I choose to take it as a sign that Marvel is slowly getting better at this and hopefully Axis can do better.... PLEASE DEAR GOD, Rick Remender, let this be another fluke of awesomeness like Uncanny X-Force as opposed to the rest of the crap I regularly see you write!
