Then they will know that I am the LORD. “‘Because you said, “The Nile is mine; I made it…’” When I think I am the one making my success, I have just opened the door to my desolation. In this chapter, we have an allegory of a crocodile captured and destroyed, God vows to punish Pharaoh and to give Egypt to the king of Babylon, the restoration of Egypt after forty years (but never again ruling the nations,) and a glimpse of a new age for Israel. Jesus said, “You say, ‘I do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor…” Let’s boast in our weakness and praise God for Christ’s strength in us.
