Our Government under Honorable Prime Minster Shri Narendra Modi Ji, has keen interest to renew and reiterate the importance India attaches to the bilateral relations with various developing nations. Leading the efforts further, its my pleasure to lead the delegation of our esteemed fellow parliamentarian to Mexico, Argentina and Chile. I was pleased to meet Senator Teófilo Torres Corzo, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Asia Pacific, Mexico; Senator José Rosas Aispuro Torres, vice president of the board of the Senate, Mexico; Senator Daniel Avila Ruiz, Senator Marcela Guerra, Senator Orihuela and rest of our counterparts from Mexico along with Shri Sujan R. Chinoy, Ambassador of India to Mexico on 28th October 2014. Deep interest was expressed by fellow Mexico lawmakers in India to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations. Both the governments seek to strengthen the bonds of friendship and trade ties between the nations, given level of importance that it deserves by the size of economies and the political influence that two countries offer in their respective regions. India is the tenth largest economy in the world and we want to continue to grow and become the third largest economy in the near future. It is pleasure to know that currently India-Mexico trade ties, within the countries of Asia, India is the fourth largest trading partner after China, Japan and South Korea for Mexico and together we look forward to improving bilateral ties. India is the third oil market worldwide for Mexico and we would like to enrich and improve our trade relations, particularly in the field of energy. India-Mexico friendship goes back 1950, when diplomatic relations with Mexico were established. Over the years, trade activities between two nations have increased significantly reflecting the mutual confidence to invest. Mexico and India are two countries that are working in a democratic environment and India is growing rapidly in diplomatic relations and have had several missions undertaken in recent times. We acknowledge the work of the Mexican Senate to achieve consensus among different political forces, in order to adopt a series of reforms that will allow better development in Mexico and strengthen bilateral relations and ties of friendship and cooperation. On meeting Senator Teófilo Torres Corzo, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Asia Pacific, Mexico, it was agreed that governments of both countries need to deepen political dialogue, contacts and exchanges for a privileged partnership between India-Mexico. We have the opportunity for the legislatures of both countries make efforts to revitalize the relationship and place it in the level of importance that it deserves by the size of our economies and the political influence that we offer in our respective regions, Senator Torres Corzo said. He said that the Asian country (i.e. India) has great influence in the international markets due to their economic development, as reflected in the average growth rate of 10 percent annually in recent years. It was pleasure to know from Senator Daniel Avila Ruiz, that Octavio Paz, Mexicos ambassador to India from 1962-1968, wrote Glimpses trial in India. This writing records cultural, artistic, political, philosophical, religious and historical footprint of our country. Through his writing he permeated a great interest and respect for the Hindu culture, social values and admiration for the political resistance, economic, educational, scientific and technological achievements of our country.
