Our Turn: OMV Improvements - Last month, we heard from Charles Weigel in one of our Your Turn segments. Weigel was complaining about unreasonably long wait times at the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles. Apparently, he wasnt the only one who felt that way. Col. Mike Edmonson who oversees the OMV agreed with Weigel and state lawmakers who were concerned about long wait times. Edmonson has now set in motion plans to make drivers license renewals and motor vehicle registration an easier and shorter process. Some of the improvements now under way include the addition of express lanes, acceptance of credit cards and the ability for people to process more tasks online without ever having to go to an OMV office. Edmonson is also working on a plan to provide incentive bonuses to OMV offices that decrease wait times for customers. His goal is to have all of the new plans in place by November. For Weigel and anyone else who has ever been stuck at an OMV office for three hours, this will certainly be a welcome change. Thats Our Turn. Now, its your turn.
