Our company issued inconvenient timings for Ramadan this year. A - TopicsExpress

Our company issued inconvenient timings for Ramadan this year. A lot of my colleagues were grumbling about it but none bothered to take up the case with the higher management. In all humbleness, I thought that instead of talking behind their backs like this, if we really are concerned, we should put forward a request for review. I took up the case, drafted a letter with my signatures as that of the chief petitioner and went about all our departments in the hopes of gathering supporting signatures (by colleagues who found the timings inconvenient). As expected, most of those who grumbled privately were either hesitant to sign the letter or paranoid about the fear that they might get fired. Why do you worry so much? I asked them. Raising genuine concerns is our right! I also assured them that the signatures on the cover letter are mine and just for your assurance, Im willing to take the brunt of anything if the management might negatively react to it. A lot of people still remained hesitant however I did manage to gather sufficient signatures from the 10 or 15 departments we have. By the end of the day (yesterday), I presented the letter with an attached list of supporting signatures to our Director HR (who is a very fine, soft-spoken and reasonable gentleman). He was slightly amused but appreciative of my confidence and assured me hell have a word with the management. And today, we all got the good news that the timings have been reviewed/re-formulated. They are very convenient for all of us now. Alhamdulillah! I just sent an email expressing my heartfelt gratitude to the Director HR and BoD. #GetOverTheParanoia #NoFearInVoicingGenuineConcerns
