Our diversity that is obstructive for good governance. We are - TopicsExpress

Our diversity that is obstructive for good governance. We are all born equal and we all have the opportunity to be leaders of this great country. Despite this obvious fact of equal rights and equality, I believe the diversity has become a stumbling block for the best person; to take charge of our lives and economy. There is a mind set that a particular tribe must have a continuous opportunity, to take charge of the presidency. My grudge is, why is it, an issue of tribal right rather than competence? It has become a rational party selection for presidency in many parties in Nigeria, rather than based on competency. Slowly we come to a political conundrum, where opportunity rather than diligence and competence; determine eligibility. In order words, we have compromised and undermined performance and have as a nation, accepted mediocrity. Former President Obasanjo recently stated that the current President Jonathen Ebele Goodluck, was by design, selected to be given the presidential candidacy because he came from the minority group of South East. This definitely gave credence to the application of equal rights but one relevant ingredient in good governance was missed out, GEJs competence to govern. What was his performance evaluated when he served, as governor of Balyesa state; or his credibility for innovation or initiative of changes in his state, taken into consideration? How did he manage the state budget and what accusations of bad governance was ever levied against him? One thing for certain he refused to declare his financial status before assuming office as president. A clear sign of non-compliance to the constitutional requirement to show probity and adherence to honesty requirement while in office. There were reports of various charges false or true that were not investigated despite been reported by the press. Just like several other governors like James Ibori, who stole money from Kwiks a super store in England while working there as a cashier. He disappeared and resurfaced as governor of Delta state and later the well established EFCC discovery of his wiping out; the state treasury of billions of naira during his reign of 8years as governor. Then you have that of former Governor Tinubu who falsely claimed to have an accountancy qualification from United States which was a lie. Now we have information that Ms. Oduah Minister for Aviation falsified her masters and doctorate degrees and despite this findings, she is still roaming the street with pride as a lying and cheating crookish minister! All the indicators were deliberately missed because the INEC could have contacted the international police or the claims by direct contact with these educational institute to verify their academic claims. How on earth is INEC allowed to carry on business as usual, despite this incompetence of allowing crooks and unqualified ministerial appointees to occupy office without proper verification? Why are these characters appointed despite their criminal tendencies and lack of credibility? It boils down to bribery and corruption! For the first time in the history of Nigeria, Former President Obasanjo decided to act and exposed the plans of the PDP party to appoint a criminal and drug dealer wanted and facing criminal charges in the US, as a political leader for the South west region! He even publicly announced his withdrawal from the partys local and national activities as a party member. We need this confrontation, to save this country from the gradual downward trend; into the abyss of no return. We must all realise the oppressor will never willingly give you freedom, unless you demand it and challenge the oppressor! Our people are suffering abject poverty because of the reckless abandonment of moral values and lack of conscience in embezzling our national funds; which could have been used to alleviate poverty in our country. It is time for change. Join me in demanding, a national reform by getting out of office oppressors and thieves ruining our economy. Remember we are collectively responsible for the bad governance because we tolerate and vote them into office. It is high time Nigerians had a national live political debate and hear these people, present their manifesto to the nation through which they are contractually bound and failure to meet these objectives and goals; should give bases for impeachment for failure to perform. New kid on the block! Abiodun Ogunseitan Presidential candidate for AD party
