Our member Paul Brandrick has kindly offered to give some of his time to assist the Friends of Meriton Road Park with asking people to complete our Park User Survey in Handforth. This survey is very important to help Cheshire East Council make the right decisions in the future development of Meriton Road park. With the views and wishes of the community made known to them, future changes to the park are much more likely to be in the order of what the community wish to see happen in the park, rather than perhaps suffer changes that we dont want! Cheshire East Council have commissioned what they have called the Parks and Open Spaces Strategy (PoSS) document which is aimed towards developing Meriton Road park into a full Green Flag status park over the next few years. How exactly this status is to be achieved will very much depend upon, not only funding being available, but also a demonstrated commitment from the community that shows just how important our local parks and open spaces are considered as fundamental to our daily lives. The FoMRP Park User Survey has been modelled upon the PoSS document, but aimed specifically at Meriton Road Park. In providing Cheshire East Council with our own collection of ideas, wishes and thoughts about just how much we value and treasure our park, we hope to make it crystal clear that Handforth wishes not only that our park remains available to use now and for future generations, but also exactly how we as a community would like to see the park developed. The FoMRP are delighted that Paul Brandrick has stepped forward because in Pauls words, I remember the park as a young kid and its brought some awesome memories. I think getting the publics input is vital. Can we ask you all out there if anyone else can spare a couple of hours to help with the completion of this park survey? If you can spare any time at all we would be delighted to hear from you! Please contact the FoMRP on Tel: 01625 529215 or 07766 718714 anytime. Alternatively, you can inbox me directly or email : info@terrywalsh Many thanks for reading! :)
