Our muslim world has followed the western culture in almost every way, be it the living standard, the educational traits, dressing, job requirements.... Its as if we have made their code of life our point of standard. A muslim purpose in this life is to obey the divine law of the Creator in every walk of life. Thus learning and gaining knowledge according to a muslim perspective was the knowledge of Quran, sunnah, fiqh .... And it is through these studies that politics, medicine, international relations, astronomy etc derives too. Thus when a muslim says he is learned he means he has studied the divine religion. While the unbelievers their abode their heaven is this world, a place they strive and struggle to make it most comfortable. Thus their way of education was to learn all the professions that will make this world a better place to live. And just to keep themselves mindful of God they chose a single day to be reminded of it, the Sunday. Unfortunately as the Holy Prophet salallahu wassalam said that you will follow the unbelievers in every aspect until they enter a hole of an animal u will follow them in there too. Therefore nowadays people call them learned who have gained worldly education, while acquiring the true knowledge is something for a particular set of people. The great companions, scholars of the early era were all learned people along with professions, and whatever their profession was they use to adopt it as a surmame as well for eg. Quduri ... He is an imam of fiqh and his profession was either making huge pots or trading them. The procedure for a muslim education should be like this every male and female should gain ilmul faraiz completely first. Ilmul faraiz is basib knowledge of Islam, knowledge about Quran, basic ahadith,creed, and obligatory worship. After acquiring this they should gain the worldly education to have some profession to earn with. If ones to continue to be a scholar he can take more in depth education, while professional studies can be learned any time. But unfortunately we have binded ourselves with the western standards of education, thus rushing our kids to school so that they wont stay behind their age group or they wont be eligible for admission. And as for religion we have made one day FRIDAY the day to listen to some sermon. While learning religion can be done any time. How beautifully the non believers has led us away from our own standards. Making us forsaking our priorities, thus the division of the world in MODERATE MUSLIMS and THE EXTREMISTS. IF THIS NOT BEING SLAVE OF THE WEST THEN WHAT IS?
