Our patients stories: Last year I was a patient at Ochsner-West - TopicsExpress

Our patients stories: Last year I was a patient at Ochsner-West Bank. I walked into the ER and complained of chest pain. I was taken right away and an EKG was done. After that, I was put in an ED room with two attentive RNs, a lab technician, x-ray technician and physician. I was treated with respect and the physician wanted to admit me for observation to rule out a heart attack. A nurse practitioner who worked with my hospitalist came to see me. After I told her all my symptoms, she said I was not having a heart attack. Thank goodness! She said it sounded like an esophageal spasm, which could cause intense pain. She then gave me IV medication which is referred to as a proton pump inhibitor. It worked. I was so impressed with the professionalism of the nurses and hospitalist. I am indeed proud of being an employee for Ochsner! Mary F., RN To share your story of care at Ochsner visit Ochsner.org/yourstory ow.ly/uKwnW
