Our school fund spent almost R10million on salaries and perks to employees and educators in 2012. The proposed budget sets down an amount of more than R12million. That is more than 50% of the budget. We dont mind paying for the best possible education for our children. Are we, parents and learners, getting the best value for our money? If we are getting value, why then do we have 65 learners in the Grade 11 Accountancy class? Why is it that the Grade 11 Tourism class has not been on one tour / excursion for the whole year? Thaba ya Batswana is around the corner, next to Rand Water. Why are the Grade 9 Maths learners struggling? Why are the IT learners for Grades 10 and 11 struggling? This is only what we know of. This is not quality. What are we paying for and how are our funds being utilised? Parents, speak to your children. Let us make Glenvista High School the best it can ever be. We can only do this by being actively involved in our childrens education. We must ensure that problem areas are identified and that focus is applied to those areas by the school management.
