Our sponsored walk for San Animal was a great success. Theweather was perfect...sunny and slightly nippy. Our ascent of Tenerife was quite arduous but encompassed several resting points where we pondered the hardships of the miners who, over 100 years ago, dug out by hand the minerals deep inside the mountain. The views from Tenerife Ridge were spectacular, inland to Vera and Cuevas and out across the sea to Carboneras and Mazarron, so smooth it seemed as if we could scoop up handfuls of the ocean and pick out the Garrucha prawns. Four hours later we were back at the dog shelter being warmly greeted and presented with certificates to mark our effort. We were tired and hungry but triumph and elation erupted with Elaine,s calculation that we had raised over 1300 euros in sponsorship money. IT HAD BEEN A GREAT DAY ALL ROUND.
