Our sweet Samara is doing better. Her elbow is less swollen today. Her incision site looks clean and healthy. She is sleeping alot, which is normal because of her meds. Shes also resting alot because its easier to lay down with her back right leg fractured. Her future mom/dad came again today to visit her. They love her already! We have three more kittens on hold--always great news. Jordan and Journey will be staying together and going to their new home after they are spayed. Little Carol also has a home. She has to grow a bit bigger before her surgery. Good homes---I feel good about them! Our new little boy has arrived. Jennifer, from Staten Island, New York delivered him two days ago. She will be leaving to go back tonight or tomorrow. He arrived as Tiny Tim, but his new name is Cayden which means fighter. Hes a wonderful boy. Hes a dusty gold tiger and has become good friends with Vernon. He is a mild CH fella. His rear leg stops right below the knee. He tries to use it, which causes a very uncertain gain. He loves to play. He takes his naps either in the Strawberry Bed or the cardboard bowl. So sweet. Trucker is doing awesome. We weighed him today and he checked in at 1.11.5. Wow! What a good gain hes doing. And he knows WHEN he wants chicken, WHEN he has to potty and lets us know! I do believe his meows are almost equivalent to a lions roar (or at least he thinks so!). He is such a thrill--makes me happy to see his progress. We have thanks to give--were so so grateful! Rosemary B from South Africa--4 lovely, beautiful afghans. Wow--we had a wonderful auction for the 02 Birthday Paddys trivets/coasters. Two trivets that brought $1,000 from Deb B (who was top bidder!) Bids were hot and heavy all day! What fun! Deb, after she won the trivets, upped it to $1,000 and said to give the trivets to the next highest bidder, which was Billypogo. He in turn sent in $250 (which he didnt have to do, but wanted to!) and Mudjie donated $100. So....those two trivets brought in $1,350! Simply amazing. Thanks too to Joni for making them! This will be applied to help us with our outstanding vet bill. Thanks to everyone for making this possible! Lets talk friendships! You all out there are our friends. This week is designated to be extra grateful for our friends. We have a sign on our door, that says This Rescue Center is a place of JOY! Please...only bring peace, friendship and a good heart within our Rescue Center. The volunteers are super friends! The viewers (chatters/lurkers) are our friends. The facebook members are our friends. The supporters and visitors and anyone that is interested in FFRC, are our friends! Visitors are our friends! We all make up this neat web of freindships. We appreciate you all and realize that you play an important part of what we do here at FFRC. It truly does take a village of people to make this Rescue Center work! Ive also been asked about our volunteers. We have approximately 40 volunteers. They are an awesome group of people. Most come in weekly, some come in 2-3 times a week. Most are volunteers where they give of their own time to be here. Yes, we do have a few paid people--these are mainly people who do the major cleaning. They work many many more hours than what they are paid for--so, to me, they are still volunteers. The pay is super minimal and certainly doesnt cover all the time they are actually here. I am so grateful to them. We have some volunteers that have been here for 12 years, some for 10 years, many for 6-8 years. They are shining stars to me and I am grateful. Without their help, we would not be FFRC. You know what one word is, that makes a huge difference in each of our lives? Its the word ATTITUDE. There is a writing, by Charles Swindoll that I love. It says alot of how we can be happy within ourselves. Here it is, in part: The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than successes. It is more important than appearance, skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitale. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. We are in charge of our attitude. A powerful saying. Have a wonderful weekend, friends!
