Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by the tremendous rain and flooding in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware! Libertys Lutheran Disaster Response program offers the following valuable information to the community: A FLOOD WARNING is in effect into early Thursday morning. Streets, creeks and streams have been flooding and many will continue to do so in the overnight hours. Minor flooding is also expected to occur on the Schuylkill River. Do not drive or walk through any flooded areas! Major flooding for: -Perkiomen Creek -Chester Creek -Brandywine Creek -White Clay Creek -Christiana River For many creeks and streams from I-95 west we will see the highest crests since Irene in August of 2011. ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT INFO: Please check on members of your congregation who are elderly or who have special needs who live in flood prone areas. Do not drive into flooded areas. If flood waters rise around your car, abandon the car and move to higher ground if you can do so safely. If your car stalls in rapidly rising waters, get out immediately and climb to higher ground. Congregations or communities that have flood buckets, please make them available to those who may have experienced water damage. Visit your county department of public safety or department of emergency management website or facebook page for information specific to your area. Visit ready.gov/floods for information about what to do before, during and after a flood.
