Over 10,000 protesters gathered in front of the Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest on Monday, protesting against perceived government corruption and lack of transparency. While thousands of protesters turned out for the event, there were no reports of violence or arrests. Protests in the Hungarian capital kicked off last October after staunch opposition to government plans to tax internet use. Tensions have since escalated after President Orban refused to fire National Tax Authority President Ildiko Vida, after she was accused of corruption by US officials. Orban has since rejected the US corruption allegations.
