Override the Governors Veto: Maine Needs Federal Funds for Health Care The Maine Legislature voted in favor of LD 1487 -- to accept federal funds to provide health care coverage to 70,000 Maine people who can’t afford health care. The Governor vetoed the bill yesterday. The bill is going back to the legislature. To override the veto, 2/3 of the Senate must vote in favor, and then 2/3 of the Representatives must do the same.
