Oxfam Organizes Saving for Change Program among Staff By: Sou Socheata Oxfam staff association initiated the formation of a Saving for Change group and it is now looking for at least 15 new members. All staff of Oxfam in Cambodia are invited to be part of the group. Saving for Change is a saving-led microfinance model developed by Oxfam and being operated in 13 countries in the world, serving the poor, with a particular focus on women who are normally un-served by formal microfinance service providers. By creating an environment and a safe place to save and lend money, the model aims to change people’s mind-set and behaviour on savings, and enhance their trust on social cohesion and self-reliance. Why should you join Oxfam’s Saving for Change group? Through participation in Oxfam SFC Group, you will: - Understand more about Saving for Change’s principles and overall operation. This will be an asset for you if you’d like to replicate SFC within your program and with your implementing partners. - Be able to reinforce your personal discipline in having your own regular savings for your further financial needs. - Be able to help your Oxfam colleagues when they need financial assistance to cope with emergencies. - Be able to conduct social activities together with other Oxfam Members of the group. - Be regularly participating in monthly saving meeting, be updated and learn new things regarding Oxfam’s programs, and other social topics.
