PARK DEVT: BOARD CALLS FOR PRIVATE SECTOR INVESTMENT Ogun State Parks and Garages Development Board (PAGADEB) has called on investors in the private sector to partner with it towards developing facilities in the various motor parks in the State. PAGADEB’s General Manager, Alhaji Ola-Ayo Ogunsolu made the call in Abeokuta while addressing members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Transportation during a visit to the agency as part of their 2013 budget implementation appraisal. Ogunsolu said interested investors could partake in providing and renovating some basic amenities in the parks including public toilets, lockup shops and flooring among others on Build-Operate and Transfer basis, assuring them of generating bountiful returns. According to him, if enhanced and provided with necessary facilities, the various parks in the State could generate more revenue into the coffers of government, hinging his optimism on the daily high human and vehicular traffic in the parks across the State. He also commended the Committee and the State’s Attorney – General on the review of PAGADEB’s operational laws which has enabled reposition and enhance its everyday activities. “The review has greatly helped us to act in full capacity as a government regulatory agency for the operations of every commercial transport union in the State and it has also enabled us to have our way from most of the initially instituted legal battles against the agency”, Ogunsolu remarked. Responding, the committee Chairman, Hon. Salmon Adeleke lauded PAGADEB for its untiring efforts towards ensuring peace among the various unions operating in the parks across the State, urging that it should strive to become one of the leading revenue generating agencies of the State government.
