PDP expresses solidarity with flood sufferersUrges priority to rescue operations Mehbooba, Baig, Karra, MLAs, others visit affected areas, took stock of situation Srinagar, Sept 4: Urging priority to rescue operations Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed serious concern over the loss of life and property due to incessant rains and flash floods across Jammu and Kashmir.In a statement, the party expressed solidarity with the flood sufferers and urged the administration and police to work in close coordination with the people in these testing times.According to a party Spokesman, the party president, Mehbooba Mufti visited some areas of Srinagar and Pulwama districts in the afternoon and took stock of the grave situation. She advised the party cadres to render all assistance to the administration and flood victims so as to minimize the loss by organising timely rescue efforts.Muzzafar Hussain Baig, senior party leader and MP visited some areas of North Kashmir and took stock of the situation there.The Spokesman said the senior party leader and MP, Tariq Hameed Karra, who also visited many affected areas of the capital city, Srinagar, said the administration should start evacuationof the population from inundated areason war footing. He suggested that shelters be identified and people in vulnerable areas advised and assisted to shift before the floods could threaten lives. “Special rescue teams should be provided for the purpose and sufficient boats be made available,” Karra said.On the directions of the party presidentall MLAs, senior party leaders and cadres have already reached out to thepeople in their respective areas. The party leaders all across the state are working on the ground round the clock for last few days and are continuously monitoring the situation caused by incessant rains and devastating floods. PDP activists have been asked to arrange relief and provide immediate help to the flood victims. Party legislators, Mohammad Sartaj Madni, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Abdul Gaffar Sofi, Nizamudin Bhat, Mohammad Khalil Bhand, Javid Mustafa Mir, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Rafi Ahmad Mir, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Abdul Haq Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Abdul Razaq Zawoora, Dr Shafi Ahmad Wani, have been visiting the affected areas in their respective constituencies and trying to help the administration in rescue and relief operations. Contesting candidates, Mohammad Dilwar Mir, Syed Altaf Bukhari, Dr Haseeb Drabu, Sofi Gh Mohuidin, Bashir Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Yasir Reshi, Saifudin Bhat, Mohammad Abbas Wani, Gh Nabi Pandithpori, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Syed FarooqAndrabi, Abdul Majid Padder, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Muntazir Mohuidin, are also active on the ground and helping the people. In the Pirpanchal region, Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan, Yashpal Sharma, Ch. Zulfikar Ali, Ch Qamar, Shah Mohammad Tantray, Iqbal Kazmi and others are also present on the ground to provide the people help and relief. The party’s youth president Waheed-ur- Rehman Parra and Bari Andrabi, district president Pulwama has also visited a number of flood affected areas in Pulwama district. Similarly, in Chinab Valley, Arshad Malik, Mehbooba Iqbal, Bashir Ahmad Runiyal Firdous Tak, SR Bhagat and Shahabul Haq, too have maintained a close coordination with the victims of the nature’s fury and are helping the civil and police administration in rescue and relief operations.Meanwhile, on the advice of the PDP president, the party General Secretary, Mohammad Dilawar Mir will be available at his Baramula residence to oraganise assistance in the North Kashmir. They said besides the Srinagar city, all the major towns in Kashmir, Anantanag, Baramulla, Pulwama, Shopian, Bijbehra, Bandipur, Kupwara Beerwa, Budgam,Pahalgam and Chadoora have got submerged in the rain waters resulting into huge problems to the people. Meanwhile, the party Chief Spokesperson, Naeem Akhtar has condoled the loss of life in the floods which have claimed many lives in Jammu region, Kokernag area of Anantanag district and villages in Tangmarg area. He said the administration needs to deploy rapid action rescue teams in all vulnerable areas especially those threatened by rising nallahs.The party has expressed deep concern at the plight of nomadic population that is still in high pastures along with their live stock. “There has to be a greater sensitivity to the condition of the people spread all over the mountain regions so as to eliminate at least the threat to life and live stock,” the party spokesman said.According to reports the worst affectedareas are:Homshalibugh constituency: Koimoh, Wanigund, Redwani, Payeen, Redwani Bala, Naabal, Butepora, Hassanpora, Shamsipora, Laktipora, Kujar, Chnpora, Wedow, Batkoo and Kadipora.
