PETER Crouch hopes he has done enough to book a place in Stokes front line after coming out of the cold to get on the scoresheet. Crouch ended the clubs 338-minute Premier League goal drought when he surged onto Erik Pieters early cross at Manchester United then stayed alert to Jon Evans botched clearance. It was the best way to announce his return to the top-flight starting line-up after two months on the sidelines. And the 32-year-old continued to be at the forefront as City created a wave of chances before being pegged back and ultimately overhauled in the second half. He said: We couldnt have asked for a better start. Erik went down the left and put a fantastic ball in, I got good contact on it and it was a great save from the keeper. I was fortunate on the rebound, but you take anything at a ground like Old Trafford.(J)
