PINK for honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month for this wonderful Group... IDENTIFICATION: Natural Spinel CARAT WEIGHT: 1.56 carats QTY. / CUT - SHAPE: 1 / Mixed - Trillian MEASUREMENT: 7.8mm COLOR / QUALITY: Pink / AAA+ CLARITY / TYPE: VVS2 exceptionally eye clean (10X) / TYPE II TREATMENTS / ENHANCEMENTS: N (no evidence of any enhancements to this stone) ORIGIN: Burma - Pein Pyit (Painpyit) CERTIFICATE / REPORT #: 002337BS COMMENTS: Would make an exceptional gem set in a jewelry piece like a smaller ring or pendant due to its hardness and durability. Here is a truly beautiful Spinel where the gem rough was mined at Pein Pyit (Painpyit) at the renowned Mogok Stone Tract Mines in the Sagaing Division, Mandalay, Burma(Myanmar). This top end gem Spinel is absolutely a very sought after hot pink color hue and tone with a very good cut. It is exceptionally eye clean with no eye-visible inclusions upon close inspection and very very small inclusions under 10x, with a exceptional face up appearance and very gemmy eye appeal! Spinel is a stone which is highly underrated! Like Corundum (Ruby & Sapphire), they come in a myriad of colors with a stunning flash & sparkle, and are mined in smaller quantities, so making them a one of a kind gemstone per ce. Some gemstone & jewelry dealers consider them a precious gem. For whom are not very knowledgeable with natural Spinels... ***Spinel is the great impostor of gemstone history: many famous Rubies in crown jewels around the world are actually Spinels. The most famous is the Black Princes Ruby, a magnificent 170-carat Red Spinel that now adorns the Imperial State Crown of England in the British Crown Jewels after a long history: Henry V even wore it on his battle helmet! The Timur Ruby, a 361-carat Red Spinel now owned by Queen Elizabeth, has the names of some of the Mughal emperors who previously owned it engraved on its face: an undeniable pedigree...hahaha. In Burma (now known as Myanmar), where some of the most beautiful colors are mined, Spinel was recognized as a separate gem species as early as 1587. In other countries the masquerade went on for hundreds of years. Spinels were most often referred to as Balas Rubies, which may have referred to their color or their country of origin. Now treasured for its own sake, Spinel is a favorite of gem dealers and collectors on account of its brilliance, hardness and wide range of spectacular colors. In addition to beautiful rich reds, Spinel can be found in a range of gorgeous pastel shades of pink and purple. Of particular interest is a vivid hot pink with a tinge of orange mined in Burma (like above). It is one of the most spectacular gemstone colors seen in any species. Spinel also comes in beautiful blue tones called cobalt spinel, but these are very, very rare.***
