PLACED by mjcet CSI student chapter : Alhumdulillah, PLACED an interactive session with the campus placed seniors regarding how to prepare for an interview was an awesome session. Ma shaa Allah, seniors from different companies came and shared their experiences on how they could crack the interviews and the previous rounds to it and got placed in various companies. may Allah bless them for their insightful words. i will try to list out some of the things which i could note down but this is not just what was covered during the session. there were many other things which were covered in the session but this is just the glimpse of it: 1) one of the best advice which we got from our senior during the session was know your strengths and make them notice. this is very important because just writing down in the Resume that this this and this are my strengths is a different thing but proving it to them that yes this is my strength is very important. 2) be confident about yourself both when you know something and you dont know something. people tend to loose their confidence when they say that they dont know something but that shouldnt be the case. even if you are saying you dont know something make sure you dont loose your confidence. your confidence level shows how much more you can develop even if you dont know it right now. 3) understand the subjects logically. just buttifying the subjects and scoring marks is easy but during the h.r or the interview they will twist the question which can be answered if you have understanding of the subject. 4) if you are passionate about something say it to them. when you have a strong interest for a particular subject say it to them but make sure that you are ready to answer any queries on that to prove your point. 5) how to answer tell me about yourself?. interviewee wouldnt be interested in your family background so dont start with your history here. just tell them what are your strengths and weaknesses and prove it to them why it is so and why you are fit for the company. 6) BE HONEST: no matter at any stage of your interview (in fact any stage of your life) honesty plays an important role. if you begin your job now with a bunch of lies today you may get a job but when they find out the reality it will be the worst case for you. so be honest while answering and if you have any difficulty just let them know about it. 7) listening and communication skills play a major role during the placement. pay your full concentration during any round be it group discussion or presentation or interview round. how you listen and how you respond is very important. now coming to the pattern of how the placement procedure actually goes. there are a set of rounds common to all the companies. they are 1) first thing is the written test or the aptitude test. here you will have depending on the company different types of aptitude test like aptitude test in quants, in verbal , in logical etc. CAT training was the best suggested for this round. 2) second round generally contains the group discussion round and presentation round where in for the group discussion for a team of 5-10 people a common topic will be given and you have to discuss it NOT DEBATE and in presentation everyone will be given time to prepare a presentation. remember for the group discussion it was advice from senior to be the one to initiate the group discussion which will be a plus point for you. 3) third round would be the interview round. generally this will be done in two stages. in first stage there will technical interview to test your subject knowledge and all so concentrate on subjects like c, c++, java, DBMS for cse and it and for others go for basics of c, c++ along with the basics of your field of engineering etc. after the technical interview is final interview which mainly focuses on YOU i.e. how to talk , how you listen , how you laugh , how you behave etc etc. hope this helped you at least to get an idea of how the interview is going to be. i have certainly missed many points. if anyone can add up to this it would be great. all the best for your interview (y)
