Orangutan Appeal UK Orangutan Appeal UK was founded in 2001 when Susan Sheward MBE established the charity after a visit to Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre in Borneo back in 2000. She realised there was a desperate need for additional funding to allow the centre to rehabilitate sick, injured, displaced and orphaned orangutans. Since then the charity has grown to support other vital projects in both Indonesia and Borneo. They now run ground breaking research in Tabin wildlife reserve monitoring released orangutans.
